Project: Women in video game culture

I am a senior at DePauw and will graduate with a Bachelor of Music Arts with majors in both music and communication.  I love studying rhetoric and the ways in which the world around us impacts and effects our lives on complex and subconscious levels.  For my project, I chose women in video games because it seemed to be an area in which the men still far outnumber the women, even more that in film, television, etc.  With gaming becoming even more accessible with the continuous evolution of mobile devices and game consuls, I feel as though women in gaming will continue to be an interesting issue for both media and gender studies.

Project: Women in TV Dramas

Here is my second year at DePauw. I come from Shanghai, China. I’m big fan of British sitcoms, so the idea of doing the representation of women in TV dramas came to me when I was trying to pick an aspect of our topic. Women’s status has changed a lot, so does the practice of gender roles in media. It’s really interesting to see different relationship between characters and audience, actresses and producers, etc.
